Reflecting on My Writing Process

In my Writing in the Disciplines class we were asked to reflect on our writing process when working on our documentary project.

1. What did you learn about yourself as a writer?
As a writer I learned I procrastinated in doing this project. I think this was because I really do not enjoy writing, and only do so when I absolutely must. Through this project I also learned that I do not like having to search for instructions. We had multiple resources with instructions which made starting the project both confusing and overwhelming for me. Once I got started however, the process went smoothy.

2. How can you take this learning forward into your professional life?
Unlike in the classroom, in the real world I will not be able to go back and revise something I turn in. The revision must come before I hand in my work, not after. I need to remember to give myself time to do an assignment and realize that what I turn in should not be the first draft.

3. What would you do differently?
If I could have done anything differently it would have been to keep up with the checkpoints that were suggested as the timeline for this project. I also need to gain more confidence in myself when it comes to writing, may be this is a contributing factor to why I do not enjoy writing.
